I am diving into this new book and want to highlight this piece I just came across, "the only way to consciously deactivate a thought is to activate another. In other words, the only way to deliberately withdraw your attention from one thought is to give your attention to another." Talk about a real statement and so well put.
I believe in the Law of Attraction, but I have to be honest, it does scare me sometimes. I get nervous about those negative thoughts that hijack my day and then think to myself, "oh great. Did I just manifest that?"
I also know the last thing I want to do is turn my negative thoughts into a belief, but how I do I turn it off? Simple. I turn my attention to a useful thought, and the negative one starts to get smaller and smaller.
I recently caught myself getting into this negative self-talk about not being able to learn this new thing. Thankfully I was mindful enough to pause, acknowledge the negative thought, forgive myself for thinking it, and followed it up with a positive statement. Then from there I shifted gears and made a conscious effort to turn my attention to more productive thoughts.
Get involved with your mind and get busy activating those good thoughts. Take breaks throughout the day to observe any negative views of yourself that have come up or that are playing on repeat. Assess them, take the driver's seat and guide your mind to focus on thoughts that are beneficial. Slowly but surely you'll extinguish those old pestering thoughts.
With love,
