Every year, my family and I get so emotional about the holidays. We get excited about the food, the festivities, and time together. Granted there are moments of annoyance but in the end, it all stems from love. I mean, we are a pretty large family. How can we not have our little fights, eye rolls, and shoulder shrugging moments? A family of 7 girls, it's bound to happen.
Something else that happens every year is that we all come together prior to the Thanksgiving dinner and say a prayer. However, we are never prepared, and it never fails, one sister tells the other to go ahead with the prayer, that sister then tells the sister next to her it's her turn, and then it falls on me -- every time. I'm not the best at winging it but I get it done. Afterwards I tell myself, next year, I'm going to prepare and have a prayer already written down. Three years later and I'm proud to say, I prepared a prayer prior to!
In the spirit of sharing, here is a snip it of what I put together and wholeheartedly pass this along to you...
"May we remember on this day and always to love ourselves unconditionally. By finding that true love for ourselves, we find the motivation to take care of our health, our wellbeing, our spirit, and look at this life that we’ve been given as an opportunity to leave behind a legacy. A legacy for our parents, sisters, brothers, kids, and ourselves. The legacy may come in different shapes and sizes. But it exists! It can be a footprint; it can be a mark. In the end, it’s something you, yourself strived for, worked for, and leave behind for others to take and grow from.
Cheers to elevating ourselves to a higher level and along the way may we take the moment to be thankful and give gratitude for what we have!"
I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving and may the rest of your holidays be filled with joy and connection.
With love,
KCG
